The Affectionately Paws blog came about when I introduced my dog, Blue, to our household of 5 back in early 2019. Boy did we not know what we were letting ourselves into; it was such a learning curve for us novice dog owners!
In the Affectionately Paws blog, you’ll find useful pet tips and articles about pet care, plus important information every pet owner needs to be aware of. We also feature news and reviews, and great pet brands we love.

About Blue

Blue (named after Blue the velociraptor in Jurrasic World) is a very lively, one blue, one brown-eyed Frug (her mum is a pug and her dad is a french bulldog) and bounces around stealing food, burying treats, and barking at nothing.

Blue’s stroke – June 2022
Blue suffered a stroke which caused her head to tilt to one side. She already did that doggy head tilt thing, but this makes her look like the exorcist! She tilts her head to the side as normal but because she’s trying to compensate for the unbalancing that the stroke caused, her head pretty much turns 360 degrees! It’s upsetting and comical at the same time, but we’re happy she’s made a full recovery.
Blue’s tumour treatment – August 2022

Blue is currently undergoing tumour treatment.
She had a 3cm tumour which was growing rapidly so she had that whipped out this week by the vet.
At the moment, she’s torn between trying to be as bouncy as normal and ripping off her protective babygrow thing with her teeth.
She has a big wound down her shoulder and leg and is having stitches out soon. We’re getting the anxiously-awaited results next week. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed the nastiness has not spread.
We’re wondering if the tumour caused the stroke in June; the vet will be able to tell us more in the coming days.
About Lucy

That’s me, the one writing this. Because Blue can’t type, it’s my job to do that.
I’m a blogger in the UK with a passion for the planet, including everyone and everything on it! I’ve been a vegetarian since I turned 10, making that 31 years of being meat-free. Reason – because I can’t bring myself to eat animals. I turned plant-based a couple of years ago and I am loving it.
Eating habits aside, I have been a blogger for 12 years now, and I have blogs in all sorts of niches, such as weddings, camping, parenting, pets, business and food. Writing content is my passion, and to do it as a business is pretty special. But when I say “business,” I don’t mean that I churn out substandard content that’s lacking purpose and interest. No-way-Jose! I take my time, I do my research and I take pride in creating content that my readers love and that my brand partners are thrilled with.
As well as Blue, I have three children between 4 and 10, and I run two businesses. I’ve become very good at prioritising, (and delegating,) and I’m quite the pro at drinking lots of coffee too. Definitely good at that one.
I am a finalist for the category of ‘National Rising Star’ in the SheInspires Awards 2022 – pretty proud of that one even if I do say so myself!
